This is a single page document issued by the Adjutant General's Office, assigning a Lieutenant J. W. Keller to the Freedman's Bureau, and dates December 18, 1866. It is signed by J. C. [John] Kelton, Assistant Adjutant General. There are also handwritten notes on the document, pertaining to a expenses paid in 1867 for a trip from New York to Franklin, La. One of these notes is signed by Capt. W. B. Armstrong of the Freedmen's Bureau (the signatures on the other two notes are illegible). There are 3 creases on the document, and some light stains. Unfortunately, the document has been laminated.; 25B; 8 x 9-3/4"
