(Some unusual) Italian views from early 19th cent,., from Drawings Made in 1817 --- London: Rodwell and Martin, 1820. First Edition. Originally one volume, but now in 2 volumes in custom full grey calf leather binding (no signature). 4to, ,vol 1 has the pages and illustrations until page 112, vol. 2 goes from 113 197. With engraved title-page vignette in vol 01, none in vol 2 and sixty detailed plates of Italian views (some unusual), engraved by Charles Heath, Edward Finden, George Corbould and others. With descriptions written 'by a friend of the Publisher's'. Miss Batty had recorded the journey she made with her father, a respected doctor and Fellow of the Linnean Society, throughout all of Italy in 1817. -- The plates are very clean, the text pages have the occasional faint spotting in the margins. Some offsetting from the plates.
