Published in an edition limited to 305 numbered copies, This is an unnumbered copy: "File copy only, ex series" in green pen on colophon. Oversized volume of the paintings of artist Axel Amuchastegui, The spectacular color plates were printed in Amsterdam by L van Leer and the text by The Curwen Press, book design by George Rainbird. A smaller version was published in 1967, also by the Tryon Gallery. Text pages and plates FINE, Some light scuffs and soiling to blue cloth cover. Axel Amuchastegui (1921 + 2002) was a self-taught artist born in Cordoba, Argentina. He illustrated many works which were published by The Tryon Gallery, including Birds of the World,Some Birds & Mammals of North AmericaandStudies of Birds & Mammals of South America.
