An attractive Folio Society illustrated edition in slipcase of the historical novel by Charles Dickens (1812-1870), first published in weekly installments in his Master Humphrey's Clock journal in 1841. The story is centered around the London Riots of 1780, known as the "Gordon Riots." With black & white drawings by Charles Keeping and an introduction for this edition by Christopher Hibbert. Volume housed in green paper-covered slipcase. --- An about-Near Fine copy: bright and tightly-bound, though with a little foxing to textblock fore-edge & penciled price to front free endpaper. Slipcase with a little rubbing and scratching, else structurally sound.
