A collection of 12 comedic plays by Terence (Publius Terentius Afer), the Second Century BC Roman playwright. Likely born in Carthage (in present-day Tunisia), Terence was brought to Rome as a slave where he became educated and excelled at writing comedies. Per Wikipedia, "His plays were heavily used to learn to speak and write in Latin during the Middle Ages and Renaissance Period, and in some instances were imitated by William Shakespeare." Six of the plays are written in prose, literally translated by Henry Thomas Riley with notes, the rest in blank verse translation of George Colman.
