A first Everyman's Library edition, 1963 of two biographies of Sir Thomas More. A Roman Catholic, More refused to acknowledge King Henry VIII as head of the Church of England, and was executed for treason as a result. His son-in-law, William Roper, asked biographer Nicholas Harpsfield to write a biography of More, providing him with a brief synopsis of More's life. Both the synopsis and the longer biography are presented together in this work, edited by E. E. Reynolds. Entry 19 in Everyman's Library Biography series. --- In EL larger format binding style 4.
