Bleak House (Two-volume set, with illustrations)

An illustrated, two-volume set of the novel by Charles Dickens (1812-1870), first published serially beginning in 1852. In "Bleak House" the author skewers the British legal system, using his imagined Jarndyce and Jarndyce absurdly protracted legal case in the Court of Chancery as a foundation. With 32 black & white engraved illustrations by an unattributed illustrator whose initials may be 'JBS.' --- In full green cloth-covered boards with spine titling and decorations in gilt. The books are undated, possibly published c.1880s-1920s.
